Hello and welcome!
If you’re here there’s a good chance you’ve never installed user made content for Kino before. This little guide is supposed to help you with installation of the content you find on this website.
First of all, you must have Kino mod installed and working.
Now, once we’re ready, let’s get to downloading the content you want to install.
On the website you can find the following categories of content:
- Car parts (.knpp)
- Custom objects (.knco)
- Garages (.kngarage)
- Maps (.knmap and .obj)
- Liveries (.knvis and .knliv)
- Layer groups (.knbgr)
- Tunes (.knd)
- Graphics presets (.kngfx)
- Misc presets (.kncam, .knhud, UI themes in .ini format etc.)
Every type of content aside from maps can be installed using the __install_content folder.
You can access it by right-clicking on CarX Drift Racing Online in your Steam Library, then go to Manage >
and click Browse local files
This will get you to the CarX Drift Racing Online folder.
It should look something like this:
From here you want to open kino > mods > KN_Base. Here’s what it looks like:
The first folder in the list called __install_content is what you’re looking for.
All content except for .obj maps goes in this folder. Maps using legacy format (folder with an .obj file) are installed into the maps folder directly.
The maps folder can be found in KN_Base. Legacy maps will usually be packaged in an archive (.rar, .zip or .7z). If you cannot open the file you might need to download and install 7zip or other file archiver of your choice.
Sometimes if the content creator decides to add multiple Car Parts or Custom Object bundles or other type of content, it might also be packed in an archive (.rar, .zip or .7z). If you cannot open the file use the download link above to download 7zip or use a different preferred file archiver.
Your content will be automatically installed on game start, but you can also install content when the game is running, however you’d have to manually reload car parts.
To do so go to the Kino menu in-game (F4 by default), then open Custom car parts and press Reload all.
